Food safe sealant/wood finish for salt box

What type of food grade sealant should be used for a small box used to store sea salt? The box is made of maple.

You could get away with nothing. Plain wood is fine for the inside... the outside could be walnut or mineral oil.

or use mineral oil inside as it has no taste or smell.
