Sealing wooden food bowls

I put a coat of mineral oil on a bowl I'd like to use for dips etc. Would a few more costs of oil make it pretty water or liquid resistant- such as for dips? If I've oiled it once can I still seal it with a good pose urethane product to make sure the wood will be really water/ liquid proof.

More coats of mineral oil will seal it more, but any food safe finish will need re-applications from time to time.

If you decide to go with a varathane finish on top of oil, test it first on a scrap piece of wood to see how it well it works.
