The 70' Madrone Tree that shedes leaves all summer long. Why?

by Howard Berry

I live here in the Northwest, Seattle to be exact.

I have a 70' two trunk Madrone Tree at the southwest corner of my front yard. It spreads approximately sixty feet in diameter like a huge umbrella giving much needed shade from the sun setting in the west.

I would like to know if it is usual for this tree to shed it's leaves everyday during the summer months. It covers the yards and driveways of 5 neighbors who are constantly raking them into piles and disposing into recycling.

I will send pictures next time.

Yes this is normal as the leaves wither at different times depending on water, temperature etc. And some are stubborn and stick to the tree until blown away with a big wind.
