Walnut Oil

I refinished a wooden bowl a few months ago and used walnut oil as a finish and now it smells rancid. Any suggestions? Thank you, Sharon

Wonder if you used it during that period? Walnut oil can turn rancid if not used over time. It is not a finish for permanent admiration but for using.

So wash first, re-sand and then apply something else if you are not going to use it. I rarely have that problem though even with utensils I have kept for months and months. The quality of the oil and the sun or temperature can impact the oil.
