Wooden Salad Bowl finish coming off

Hello. I recently purchased a wooden salad bowl in Mexico. The finish is coming off in some places. Wondering if it is food safe and what I should do?

Probably a good thing the finish is coming off as I doubt it is food safe.

Get some sandpaper and remove the finish and then use a food-safe wood finish like walnut oil.

Start with a rough grit say 100 and work your way up to 150 and 220 finer grits.
